When the IoT was still in its infancy and LPWAN networks were only in development phase I was thrilled with wast potential possibilities that a long-range battery powered devices can bring us i.e. to put any type of sensor everywhere.
Now I have read an interesting article about the chip with such low power needs combines with energy harvesting tech that doesn’t need batteries at all. Actually, there are two options, one working without battery at all, and the other extending the life of batteries. This can be a major step forward to reduce operational expenses.
The technology apparently works only for Bluetooth 5 and I would love to see it working on LoRaWAN.
The companies that made it possible are Atmosic and SMK Electronics Corporation.
